Is the Cheapest White Label Casino Platform Really the Best?

Laurent Zachar 4 October 2026 · Laurent Zachar

Cheapest and best are not the same question, and conflating them is one of the more expensive mistakes a new operator can make. This article is part 4 of a 5-part series drawn from our founder Laurent Zachar’s interview on the Legacy Builders podcast, on when a budget platform is genuinely the right call and when it starts working against the operator.

What operators should look for

Asked what matters most when comparing platforms, Laurent didn’t point to price first. He pointed to two things:

“What you want to look for is time to market and cost. Those are the two things that matter the most for someone who’s just getting started.”

Time to market gets undervalued constantly. A platform that’s $2,000 cheaper but takes four extra months to launch has cost the operator four months of revenue and four months of a market window that may close. Our first article in this series covers exactly this gap between advertised and real launch timelines among established providers.

The revenue point where the calculus changes

Where this gets genuinely useful is Laurent’s answer on when an operator should stop optimizing for a flat low setup fee and start thinking about a different fee structure entirely:

“If you are doing less than a million dollars a month in GGR, then whitelabels.com is by far the cheapest option. But if you’re scaling up to, let’s say, $10 million a month in GGR, then at some point it makes sense to look into other options, because a percentage-based model starts to cost more than a fixed-fee one at that scale.”

That’s a specific, useful threshold, not a vague “it depends.” Below roughly a million dollars a month in gross gaming revenue, a low-setup, percentage-of-GGR model keeps fixed costs low exactly when the operator can least afford them. Above that, the percentage itself becomes the larger number, and a flat-fee or hybrid arrangement with a different provider can work out cheaper in absolute terms even if the sticker price looks higher. This is the single most useful planning number out of the whole interview, because it turns “which platform is cheapest” into a question with an actual answer depending on where the operator’s revenue sits today, and where it’s headed.

Customization: dashboard control versus paying developers

The other factor Laurent raised doesn’t show up on a pricing page at all. It’s how much an operator can change without hiring anyone:

“One of the advantages is that you can customize everything from the dashboard. You can rearrange the games, change the banners, update your promotions, all without needing to pay a developer every single time you want to make a small change.”

That distinction, dashboard control versus a developer invoice for every change, compounds over time in a way a one-time setup fee doesn’t capture. An operator running frequent promotions or testing different game placements pays for that flexibility either in platform fees or in developer hours, and the cheaper platform on paper isn’t automatically the cheaper one in practice if every iteration requires an external request. Our platform comparison notes dashboard-level customization as part of the scoring methodology for this reason.

So, is cheapest ever the right answer?

Based on the interview, the honest answer is: it depends on where you are, and it stops being the right frame entirely once revenue crosses a certain size. For most operators getting started, below that million-dollar-a-month GGR line, the lowest-setup-cost, fastest-to-launch option is genuinely the correct choice, not a compromise. The mistake is assuming that stays true forever regardless of scale. Our GGR share fee models explainer goes deeper into how percentage-based and flat-fee structures compare as revenue grows.

FAQ

Is the cheapest white label platform always the best choice?

Not always, but for most operators starting out it’s the right choice. Below roughly a million dollars a month in gross gaming revenue, a low-setup, percentage-based platform keeps costs manageable. Above that, a different fee structure can work out cheaper in absolute terms.

At what revenue level should an operator consider switching platforms?

Based on this interview, somewhere between a million and ten million dollars a month in GGR is where a percentage-based fee starts costing more in absolute dollars than a flat or hybrid fee structure would. It’s worth reviewing the math at that point rather than assuming the original platform still makes sense.

What matters more than price when comparing platforms?

Time to market and total cost together, not price in isolation. A platform that’s cheaper upfront but takes months longer to launch, or charges extra for every small change, can cost more overall than a platform with a higher sticker price.

What does dashboard-level customization save an operator?

It removes the need to pay a developer for routine changes like rearranging games, swapping banners, or updating promotions. For an operator running frequent promotions, that adds up to real savings compared to a platform that requires a developer request for every update.
